I worked on the set of a movie called "American DreamZ" (yes, "Dreams...with a Z"). The scene that I was in stared Hugh Grant (who gets blown up!!), Dennis Quaid (as President "Bush"--er Stanton), Mandy Moore (the chick who caused all the problems), and Chris Klein (the mad suicide bommer).
So, I have nothing better to do than people watch from my safe seat of right next to bars (making me feel like I'm in prison). And who better to watch than Hugh Grant and Dennis Quaid. They're both good looking men, so it made sense to me.
Let's start with my observations of Dennis Quaid...He's very outgoing and outspoken. One of the first things he did was turn to all of the background and smile and say, "Hey, everyone! Welcome!! Let's have a great day!" and then took his position. Very outspoken and outgoing.
Let's move to Hugh Grant.
He is rather shy. Too many people and he was weaving through stage equipment and trying desperately hard not to be seen. I think they used his stand-in more than they used him. His stand-in, by the way, looks almost identical and is a very sweet man. Anyway...I found it quite interesting that Hugh Grant would act that way considering I've heard him to be a player and rather flamboyant. But, it then occurred to me that people hear that I am quite outspoken and whatnot. Unless I'm in a large group. So, it occurred to me that Hugh Grant is the same way. He's fine in smaller, intimate gatherings and not so much when he's outnumbered 50 to 1....or so.
Anyway.
It's not like anyone's reading this prattle, but I just thought I'd write it anyway because, well, I needed to feel better about my shyness.
bu-bye
